Where does the name come from?

A Swiss army knife owes its name to its origin. This knife originated in Switzerland. At the end of the 19th century, this country decided to introduce a practical pocket knife for its soldiers. Because this knife consisted of a screwdriver, among other things, soldiers were able to disassemble their service weapon themselves. In addition, they could also use it to open a can.

Initially, Swiss Army Knives produced by several companies, but in the end only remained Victorinox and Wenger about. In 2005, Wenger was acquired by Victorinox, as a result of which all Swiss Army knives are now produced by Victorinox. Incidentally, this is the only company that is allowed to use the name Swiss Army Knife for its knives.
